In 1997, Chao-Po Chen, better known under his pseudonym Paul Chen, founded his own company for the manufacture of oriental swords. Very quickly, he decided to use the traditional methods of Japanese blacksmiths to make a cheap sword. Its production is diversified with a range of katanas, tantos and wakizashis. Its high quality products are very popular with collectors and martial artists. A few years later, Paul Chen manufactured European sword models with, for example, knight's swords and Viking swords. Today, the Hanwei brand offers a wide collection of historical weapons and accessories to the delight of collectors and organizers of historical reenactments.
