What do you need to know about Gamo?

Gamo is a Spanish brand specializing in ammunition, rifles and air pistols. With a presence on five continents, Gamo is considered Europe's leading producer of airguns. Also a world leader in ammunition manufacturing, Gamo is a household name among shooters. Striving for excellence, it offers models suitable for beginners and experienced shooters alike.

Gamo chronology

In 1950, following the creation of the ACSA group to manufacture lead derivatives, Antonio Casas Serra decided to produce lead-based ammunition. Five years later, he founded Industrias el Gamo S.A., and in 1961 presented his first pellet rifles, which met with immediate success on the Spanish market. The group then moved into the manufacture of rifles with fully interchangeable parts. Gamo's aim was to offer quality products at an affordable price, thus popularizing airgun shooting. In 1963, the first exports were made to the UK, and by 1970, to over 40 countries. In 1980, the Group began a process of establishing business relations with other foreign manufacturers in the same sector. Two years later, the ammunition manufacturing plant was moved to a new, much larger industrial estate, which also included a wood processing plant for the production of gun butts. In 1995, Gamo acquired a North American distributor and set up a subsidiary in the country to facilitate the sale of its products. In 2007, the MCH Private Equity group bought 80% of Industrias el Gamo to promote the brand's expansion. A year later, Gamo integrates the WHISPER sound reduction system into most of its models. In 2009, the ammunition manufacturing process evolves with the introduction of new ammunition made from alternative materials to lead. In 2011, the performance of Gamo rifles is enhanced by the use of the WHISPER sound reduction system.
